This Mass, sponsored by the Diocesan Office of Pastoral Care for Healthcare Facilities, offers prayer and thanksgiving for all essential workers – healthcare, emergency responders, military, food service, sanitation, postal service, transport – all those who contribute to our safety and wellbeing. The Celebrant for the Mass will be the Most Reverend Richard G. Henning, Bishop of Providence. If you are a parishioner, and an essential worker, we would love to have you participate in the Entrance Procession for the Mass. Please join us in praying this Novena from July 16th – July 24th for the success of our Revival and that attendees be open to receive the all the gifts the Holy Spirit has for them.
The parishes of St. Pius X, St. Mary’s/St. James Chapel and St.Francis of Assisi/St. Romuald Chapel are hosting a three-night Tent Revival, “Living in the Spirit”. In 1959 Pope St. John XXIII is quoted, “Throw open the windows of the church and let the fresh air of the spirit blow through.” We believe God is calling for us to renew Pope St. John’s wishes and help keep the Holy Spirit flowing through the windows of the church and the windows of our hearts. Come join us July 24th, 25th and 26th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck School House Road, Charlestown RI. Each night will begin with praise and worship music led by Christian artist Jon Polce, followed by teaching/witness talks on opening ourselves to allow the Spirit of God to live within us. The third night concludes with speaker and Evangelist, Walter Burke JR., of the “Burke Family Singers” fame, as he prepares us all with a deeper understanding of how to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Summer is winding down and our Faith Formation classes will begin in September. Registration for new students is now available.
