Join us for the Stations of the Cross every Wednesday during Lent. All are welcome!
With this Mass, celebrated in the evening of the Thursday of Holy Week, the Church begins the sacred Easter Triduum and devotes herself to the remembrance of the Last Supper. This Mass is the memorial of the institution of the Eucharist and the institution of the priesthood, by which Christ's mission and sacrifice are perpetuated in the world. In addition, this Mass is the memorial of that love by which the Lord loved us even to death.
The Stations of the Cross, also known as the Way of the Cross, commemorate Jesus's passion and death on the cross.
On Good Friday, the entire Church fixes her gaze on the Cross at Calvary. Good Friday is the day that Jesus died for our sins. Each member of the Church tries to understand at what cost Christ has won our redemption. In the solemn ceremonies of Good Friday, in the veneration of the Cross, in the reading of the Passion, and in receiving the pre-consecrated Host, we unite ourselves to our Savior, and we contemplate our own death to sin in the Death of our Lord.
This is the holiest night of the Church’s year as we recall Christ’s Resurrection from the dead. Beginning in darkness with the light of candles, we enter into the celebration of his Resurrection singing the Gloria and Alleluia for the first time since the beginning of Lent.
Our prayer group meets every Wednesday at 6-7:30pm in the Lower Church (Helen Bouchard Hall). Father Al Ranallo and Deacon John Dowd lead the evening with Charismatic Praise and Worship and the sharing of God’s Word. ALL ARE INVITED TO ATTEND!
Mark your calendars to participate in this year’s Alpha program! Alpha is an opportunity to invite your family, friends, and neighbors to join you in exploring life’s biggest questions through the Christian faith. It’s a series of interactive sessions that begin with a delicious meal followed by a short film and small group discussions to intentionally create space for the Holy Spirit to lead people to a personal encounter and relationship with Jesus. Alpha is free-of-charge and anyone is welcome to join. You can RSVP at www.stfranciswakefield.com/faith-formation/alpha or email alpha@stfranciswakefield.com or just come on April4th.
Join us for an evening of music by the local Narrow River Band, Hors d'oeuvres, and beverages to help raise money for our parish center kitchen renovation. There will also be a silent auction that includes a charter fishing boat trip, a dinner for 6 at the Coast Guard House and a week long stay at a Myrtle beach condo. Cost for the evening is $35/person. Ticket sales can be purchased in advance at the parish office or through the form in the bulletin.
We are looking to renovate more than a kitchen for our St. Francis of Assisi Parish Family, we are looking to “Renovate Hearts.” Hope to see you there!
Our loved ones, both past and present, have such an impact on us and form who we are. Here is a wonderful way to timelessly honor them and at the same time help with our kitchen renovation. Why not consider purchasing a memorial brick in their name? These bricks will be placed in areas around the church and Father Greenan Parish Center and the cost is $100 per brick. If you are interested in purchasing one complete the form below. Memorial brick form
Our summer bible study runs on Thursday evenings, from 6-7pm in Father Greenan Center. We will study the Letter of St. Paul to the Romans. All are welcome! Your knowledge of the bible is not an issue. We will have guidebooks from St. Ignatius Press. If you cannot make every session that is OK as many travel in the Summer. The guidebook will run about $10. E-mail Sean O'Donnell ( sod9292@gmail.com ) if you are planning to join us so we can purchase enough guidebooks. There will be no bible study session on July 4th and August 15th.
