Welcome to St. Francis, a Roman Catholic parish of the Diocese of Providence, located in South County, Rhode Island
Our parish comprises two worship sites: Saint Francis of Assisi Church, a historic stone church just outside downtown Wakefield, and Saint Romuald Chapel, a quaint beach-side chapel in Matunuck. We are a vibrant parish with a strong liturgical and devotional life, thriving catechetical programs for both youth and adults, countless opportunities for service, and a strong focus on parish fellowship.
We exist as a parish because of Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6); it is he who gathers us together in himself and for himself. We believe that Jesus Christ, living among us in the Sacrament of his Body and Blood, is the only hope for the world, and that he distributes his grace in abundance through the sacraments, which form the foundation of our parish identity. All of our programs, services, and opportunities for fellowship flow from our worship of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Our fidelity to the magsterium of the Roman Catholic Church, as preserved and passed on by our Holy Father the Pope and our Bishop, ensures the authenticity of our teaching and our preaching.
